Working With Gulf Coast Utility Contractors

For most GCUC projects it covers clearing and grubbing, erosion control, earthwork and grading, water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage installation, roadway construction and asphalt paving, and site finishes such as curb, sidewalk, striping and stabilization.

We also bid individual scopes when a general contractor already has other trades under contract.

We self-perform the large majority of our scope with our own crews and our own equipment, including all underground utility installation, earthwork and grading. Specialty items are subcontracted, but the site remains under GCUC supervision from clearing through closeout.

Yes. Our utility crews regularly perform wet taps and tie-ins to active water and sewer mains, including work that requires keeping the existing system in service while the new one is brought online. We coordinate shutdowns and inspections directly with the utility authority.

Yes. We set and plumb new lift stations and perform improvements to existing ones, including tie-ins where the original station stays in service as a holding tank during the transition.

Regularly. Much of the Panhandle carries a high water table, and deep sewer runs here almost always require a dewatering plan. We handle wellpoint systems, trench shoring and deep installations as part of our standard utility scope rather than farming them out.

The more complete the package, the tighter the number. Most useful:

• Geotechnical report, if one has been completed
• Project specifications and any special provisions
• Bid date and anticipated construction start
• Phasing requirements or site access restrictions

Yes. We perform municipal and public works projects including utility replacement, lift station improvements, parks and city infrastructure, and we are set up for the bonding and documentation those contracts require.

Yes. Each project is assigned a project manager and a superintendent who stay with it from preconstruction through closeout. Because the utility, earthwork and paving crews all work for GCUC, coordination between those phases happens internally rather than across separate contracts.

We supply and haul fill dirt for projects in Bay County and the surrounding Panhandle counties, whether or not GCUC is performing the rest of the sitework. Contact our office with your quantity, material type and delivery location for pricing.

We work throughout the Florida Panhandle from two locations. Our Panama City office covers Bay, Gulf, Walton, Jackson, Washington and Calhoun counties and the Tallahassee area. Our Milton office at 3867 Avalon Blvd, open since 2015, covers Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties, including Pensacola.

Projects outside that footprint are considered case by case depending on scope and duration.

We work at the subdivision and multifamily scale rather than the individual lot scale. If you are developing a residential community, we handle the utilities, stormwater ponds, roadways and paving as one package.
