Project Overview

About the Project

Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show is a major Panama City Beach entertainment attraction featuring a 60,000-square-foot indoor theater with more than 1,000 seats. Its centerpiece is Buccaneer Bay, a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon holding approximately 600,000 gallons of water and featuring two full-sized pirate ships.

GCUC served as the site contractor, completing the civil and site-development work supporting the attraction: water, sewer, stormwater, parking lot construction and paving, concrete, and the grading and earthwork that tied it all together. The building was constructed by others.

The interior lagoon created an unusual construction sequence. The building structure was erected first, and then our crews brought an excavator inside the building to dig out the future pool and stage area, removing approximately 5,500 tons of soil and sand to create the lagoon.

Excavation From the Inside

With the building already standing, GCUC crews took an excavator inside and dug a 15-foot-deep lagoon where two pirate ships now float.
