Project Overview

About the Project

The Nellie Drive Extension is Phase 1 of Walton County’s Old Town of Santa Rosa Regional Stormwater Management Facility and future park and event venue development. The project extends Nellie Drive from Chat Holley Road to U.S. Highway 98 at the existing signal east of Publix, creating a new north-south connection while establishing access to the county’s approximately 220-acre property. Phase 1 also includes the first two regional stormwater management ponds planned for the site.

GCUC is constructing the civil and roadway improvements for this first phase, including substantial clearing, earthwork, roadway construction, drainage and stormwater infrastructure, paving, curb and gutter, and erosion control measures. The work addresses longstanding drainage and water quality concerns in an area with a high groundwater table, wetlands, and limited historic stormwater infrastructure, while setting up the county’s larger plans for regional stormwater management, passive recreation, and a future event venue.
